Oscar Cacérès
Born in Montevideo, Oscar Caceres begins playing the guitar at the age of 11. He progresses so fast that his teacher decides to present his recital only 18 months after his first lessons. His artistic carrier has began, that pushes him very fast at an international level. In 1957, after his first tour in Europe, he plays in Montevideo the Aranjuez Concerto from Rodrigo for his first audition in South America. As a famous interpreter of Villa-Lobos, he creates in Rio de Janeiro the Concerto for guitar and orchestra from this famous Bresilian composer. Settled in France from 1967 an renown for his exceptional knowledge of guitar musical directory as well as for his teaching qualities, he is often invited at international trainings. Passionate follower of contemporary music, he creates several works often written specially for him. His discography offers a large choice of works from composers of 16th century to contemporary music. A major character of this instrument ! |
