Born in Barcelona in 1945, Antoni Besses was very soon remarked for his artistic brightness and he enters the conservatory in his native town to study the piano, composition and chamber music. At the end of his studies, he is already the holder of a impressive prize list : “Maria Barrientos”, “Extraordinario de Piano”, first prize of French Institute in Barcelona, and he gets several grants to work in Paris (with P. Sancan and O. Messian) and in Anvers (with F. Gevers). He also benefits from advices of F. Mompou, G. Agosti, A. de Larrocha and V. Perlemuter. With a considerable repertoire, from baroque to contemporary music, Antoni Besses is also a composer. His music was played during international festivals in Royan and Barcelona. As a conductor, he obtained the first prize of orchestra conduction of Anvers (1979). Antoni Besses teaches the piano at the Upper Academy in Barcelona.
