Student of V. Yankoff at CNSM in Paris, François Chaplin obtains there his first prizes of piano (first nominate) and chamber music. Prize winner of International of Senigallia competition, he also obtains the prizes Mozart and Robert Casadesus at the international competition in Cleveland in 1989. These prizes point the beginning of a brilliant international carrier where he often takes part to numerous first class festivals (Roque d’Antéron, Flâneries Musicales in Reims, Piano in Valois, Chopin Festival in Paris, Cervantino International Festival in Mexico, International Festival in Yokohama, Japan, etc…). the whole specialized press is very enthusiast for his concerts and his records, and calls him “one of the most original and charming artists of French Piano”. His superb sound, his musical brightness and his innate sense of phrasing make him the interpreter of Mozart or Chopin Concertos, Brahms dark mood or unpredictable Schuman, as well as Debussy lights.
